Albert M. Adams received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1969, his M.A.T. from The Colorado College in 1980, and his doctorate of education from Harvard University in 1985. Prior to his time at Lick-Wilmerding High School, he spent years working as a teacher, coach, and school administrator. In 1988, he became Head of School at Lick-Wilmerding, where he would remain until his retirement in 2011.
During his tenure as Head of School, Adams made a lasting impact on the future of the school. Under his helm, LWHS was recognized as a leader among the national independent schools in regards to its head, heart, hands curriculum; student success, access, and inclusion; and showing what it means to be a private school with a public purpose.
In the broader education world, Adams is known for his articles, presentations, workshops, and advising on diversity/access/inclusion, educational leadership, institutional positioning, strategic thinking, and public/private partnerships. He has continued to promote these issues after his retirement from LWHS, serving as an independent educational consultant to share his vast knowledge and experience with other schools.
