Stuart Oppenheim attended Lick-Wilmerding High School, graduating in 1965. He went on to attend the University of California, Santa Cruz, earning a bachelor of arts in 1969. He then devoted his career to serving others, spending 32 years working in public human services, including 15 years as the Child Welfare Director in San Mateo County, California. When Oppenheim retired in 2004, he founded the Child & Family Policy Institute of California. The Institute is devoted to improving the delivery of human services programs for the benefit of children, youth, families, and older and disabled adults throughout California.
In addition to his career, Oppenheim is devoted to his family. He is a proud feminist father of three daughters: Rachel, Emma, and Nora. All three women attended LWHS for their high school career, graduating in 1995, 1999, and 2005 respectively.
Oppenheim has been an involved alumnus throughout his life. He served as President of PALs (Parents of Alumni, and in 2010, the Lick-Wilmerding-Lux Alumni Association honored him with the Distinguished Alumni Award.
